A Tribute to the Life and Legacy of  Doug Coe and Friends

On February 21, 2017, we lost Doug Coe, the quiet visionary instrumental for over 60 years in the growth of the National Prayer Breakfast, Congressional prayer meetings and a worldwide family of friends. A new book will honor his extraordinary life and the lasting impact of his many friends united in Jesus, offering a unique look into their faith, leadership, and global influence.

Voices of Impact

Numerous individuals who loved Doug Coe share personal stories of how Doug and his friends touched their lives—revealing his deep, lasting influence on world leaders, faith communities, business and civic leaders, and everyday people alike.  This book includes a collection of photos capturing the efforts of Doug and his friends, documenting moments that defined this ministry and the people it impacted.

Three friends who have walked together since their lives were changed in college 50 years ago have written a book about leadership, the fellowship and Doug Coe.

The first national student leadership forum took place in 1976 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, highlighting Jesus’s leadership principles. Doug Coe and several friends mentored the students and became their friends.  Doug was a credible leader who did not seek the limelight.  He knew Jesus as a man,  as God, and as undeniably the most impactful leader in history.

The students were drawn to leadership rooted in the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, who cared for everyone, even the powerless.  This leadership was not  greedy or egotistical.  It changed hearts and lives.  It is still changing the world.  Doug’s influence helped the students embrace Jesus’ values.  New hope and purpose ran through their veins.

Doug and the love of his life, his wife Jan, raised six children. Sharing an anointing to reach the world with an alive Jesus, Jan supported Doug as he visited nearly all 195 countries, forming friendships across cultures, nations, and faith traditions. Despite interacting with kings, presidents and prime ministers, Doug remained close to everyday people.
